Shared vs Dedicated IP

Shared IPs pool reputation across multiple senders. Dedicated IPs isolate reputation but require enough consistent volume to build and maintain trust.

Use shared IPs when

  • Volume is low or irregular.
  • You are still validating product-market messaging.
  • You do not have a reputation operations owner.

Use dedicated IPs when

  • Volume is high and consistent.
  • You need reputation isolation.
  • You can warm up gradually.
  • You monitor bounce, complaint, and delay metrics.

Dedicated IPs are not a shortcut for poor list quality or weak authentication.
